Our projects are mainly in our core market in Germany, especially in France, where we specialise in wind power (>340 projects) and photovoltaics (>120 projects). SaarLB has already financed over 470 wind and solar projects from international project developers/investors in France and Germany, and since 2019, we’ve also financed our first project in the Netherlands. This makes us the leading provider in this specialised segment of project financing for medium-sized companies in the German core market and in France. Together with our partners, we have realised renewable energy projects with a total nominal output of around 4,950 MW. Compared to conventional lignite or hard coal-fired power plants (with CO2 emissions of around 1,000g CO2 per kWh), the financing of these CO2-free technologies has enabled savings of around 8.7 million tonnes of CO2 per year, meaning that this business segment is making an effective contribution to climate protection. (As of December 2024, expert estimate for the market segment) Regardless of changing political and legal conditions, we intend to continue playing a relevant role in the financing of renewable energies in our target markets in the future and to support our customers and partners in their projects in a sustainable and long-term manner.
