On 1 October 2026, SaarLB welcomed guests from the business, academic and energy sectors to Risk Management Day 2026 in Saarbrücken. The event focused on current challenges and developments in the areas of renewable energy, financing, industrial transformation, as well as digital transformation, artificial intelligence and data management.
The event was opened by Maik Mittelberg, Member of the Management Board of SaarLB.
Four keynote presentations provided different perspectives on key issues shaping the future:
- Dr Simone Peter, former President of the German Renewable Energy Federation (BEE), former Minister for the Environment, Energy and Transport of Saarland, and Member of the Board of the European Renewable Energy Federation (EREF): Financing Renewable Energy in a Changing Regulatory Environment
- Nicolas Eschenbruch, Project Manager, “Marktoffensive Erneuerbare Energien”, German Energy Agency (dena): PPAs as a Basis for Financing: Market Developments, Risk Mitigation and Offtakers
- Jonathan Weber, CFO & Transformation Leader, Stahl-Holding-Saar / Dillinger Hüttenwerke AG / Saarstahl AG: Challenges Facing the Saarland Steel Industry in the Transformation towards Green Steel
- Sebastian Kreibich, Managing Director, Scheer School of Digital Sciences at Saarland University gGmbH: Insights into Digital Transformation, AI and Data Management
The presentations were subsequently explored in greater depth in an interactive workshop format, encouraging discussion and the exchange of perspectives among the participants. The day concluded with a dinner, providing an opportunity for further discussions and networking.
