SaarLB is financing a large-scale battery storage facility in France

SaarLB is supporting the financing of a large-scale battery storage project in Neuilly-en-Thelle, in northern France, in the Hauts-de-France region. The borrower is a project company owned by Kallista Energy, a long-standing client and established independent producer of renewable energy in France, Germany and the Netherlands.

The project is one of the largest battery storage projects in France. SaarLB, the Franco-German bank, is acting as lead arranger in the club deal with BNP Paribas. The financing package amounts to around 50 million euros. The construction phase has already begun, and commissioning is scheduled for mid-2028.

Large-scale battery storage systems play a key role in stabilising the electricity grids and improving the integration of renewable energy sources. The project’s storage capacity is theoretically sufficient to supply around 30,000 households with electricity for one day.

With this transaction, SaarLB is underlining its strong position in the financing of sustainable energy infrastructure and continuing its long-standing, successful partnership with Kallista Energy.
