As part of its sustainability strategy, SaarLB is deliberately prioritising regional sourcing when purchasing CO₂ credits this year. Through its partner Klim, the bank is acquiring, amongst other things, CO₂ credits from regenerative agriculture at the Biehlerhof farm in Sankt Wendel in northern Saarland.
In addition to the Biehlerhof, SaarLB is purchasing certificates from four other farms in Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate. In total, the purchase comprises certificates amounting to 340 tonnes of CO₂.
The partnership was officially unveiled today during an on-site meeting at the Biehlerhof. The meeting was attended by representatives from Klim and the Biehlerhof, as well as the Chairman of the Executive Board of SaarLB, Dr Jochen Sutor.
By opting for a regional approach, SaarLB combines its commitment to climate protection with support for farms in its region. Through Klim, the bank acquires certificates based on quantified and verified climate benefits derived from regenerative agriculture.
En achetant des crédits carbone au niveau régional, la SaarLB soutient les efforts de protection du climat menés par les exploitations agricoles de la Sarre et de Rhénanie-Palatinat.
