By planting a total of ten peace trees, SaarLB is taking part in the initiative to create a Franco-German Peace Avenue stretching from Paris to Berlin.
The trees stand as a visible symbol of peace, reconciliation and the close ties between Germany and France.
The first peace lime tree was planted last Thursday at the Bruchwiese Comprehensive School in Saarbrücken. Those present included our Executive Board member Frank Eloy, Consul-General Jerome Spinoza, Regional Association Director Dr Carolin Lehberger, Rotary Club project manager Christine Klos and the headteacher of the Bruchwiese Comprehensive School, Nils Iljans.
In our Franco-German Greater Region in particular, the value of the Franco-German partnership is evident every day. The Avenue of Peace, initiated by the Rotary Club Forbach-Goldene Bremm-Saar, highlights this special bond whilst also sending a message of understanding, responsibility and a peaceful Europe.
As a Franco-German bank, we are proud to be part of this Avenue of Peace.
