Refinancing agreement with the European Investment Bank

Refinancing agreement with the EIB

European Investment Bank loans for renewable energy (“RE”) investments by SMEs/midcap companies and public sector companies

Through a refinancing agreement with the European Investment Bank for EUR 75 million (www.eib.org), we support wind and photovoltaic projects pursued by SMEs, midcap companies and public sector companies by providing access to an invaluable source of lower cost financing and flexible repayment schedules.

A European cooperation for the benefit of renewable energies
The EIB is the European Union’s institution for long-term funding. Its task is to contribute towards the integration, balanced development and economic and social cohesion of the EU Member States. The EIB’s best possible rating (AAA) lets it borrow funds on capital markets under favourable terms and pass them on to SMEs and midcap companies through us.

The minimum loan term is two years (the actual length of the loan will depend on the economic and technical life of the project funded). The funds can be used to finance everything from very small projects to projects with a maximum cost of EUR 25 million. However, the EIB’s contribution may not exceed EUR 12.5 million.

  • Projects pursued by SMEs based in one of the EU Member States with less than 250 employees on a consolidated basis before the investment;
  • Projects handled by midcap companies in one of the EU Member States with less than 3,000 employees on a consolidated basis before the investment.
  • Projects undertaken by public sector bodies

An EIB loan may be used to finance investments related to the implementation of a wind and, where appropriate, photovoltaic project.

You can receive beneficial interest rates that are lower than the standard lending rates.
EIB loans for RE projects are channelled through us so that we alone review the loan application and make the decision whether or not to grant the loan.
Please contact our Relationship Manager to discuss whether your company is eligible for financing through the EIB products “Loans for SMEs” or “Loans for Midcap Companies”.
